Some updates

July 12th, 2010

Man I really am a slacker when it comes to this website. I’ve updated the Pictures and Movies with some more stuff and I just noticed that I apparently never actually uploaded any pictures from his first birthday so I should probably upload some of those as well…

I’m one year old!

June 13th, 2009

Today is Donovan’s birthday, we have a party for him today at the Visalia Sports Park and I’ll have pictures and video of the party up later on.  I honestly have no clue how it’s been a year already…yeesh…

Photos from DC and Videos

June 12th, 2009

Yes, I know they’re not all of Donovan, but he is in a lot of them. I have added our photos from DC to Donovan’s Photo Albums page, click the link on the right to get to it. Also here are the videos that I mentioned in the last post.

Donovan’s at Day Care, also, other stuff

June 2nd, 2009

2 weeks shy of 1 year old and Donovan just started at Kaweah Kids.

His first day went well, while we were both there dropping him off he decided to go and wander around and see what was going on. There are all kinds of new toys, things he can crawl through, other kids he can play with. Crystal picked up a very grubby little boy that evening, they have a good sized dirt play area for the kids to enjoy. The only problem that the ladies said they had with him was changing his diaper, but he fights us when we do that as well, otherwise he had fun. Today he was a little more reluctant to let me go, the lady who works in that room had to pull him away and distract him so that I could leave. We’ll see how it goes.

The nicest thing about this is that if there is a problem Crystal is literally right next door, she can look out her office window and see the Kaweah Kids building.

I have a bunch of pictures from our trip to DC that I’m still sorting through, once I get the good ones separated out and uploaded I’ll update this site. New camera + 8GB flash card = a lot of pictures. There’s also some video on Facebook that my dad posted of Donovan playing with the water hose and discovering the fun of splashing around in puddles. I’m trying to figure out if I can link straight to those from here or if I’ll need to upload them to my YouTube or Vimeo account and then link them.

11 months old

May 15th, 2009

I’m not exactly sure how it’s happened already but Donovan turned 11 months old on the 13th of May. Man how time flies, just one more month until he hits the big 01.

I have a new video of him playing in the bathtub and we have some pictures to upload as well. I’ll put the video up now and once Crystal gets done fiddling with the pictures we’ll put those up as well.

Donovan and the doggie door

April 20th, 2009

Just a quick new video. Donovan figured out the doggie door over the weekend…

Just a link to it for now until I can figure out why it isn’t letting me show it in a post.

Just added a few pictures. One is of Donovan with his new toy and the other two are of some random person holding him…

9 Months Old

March 15th, 2009

Donovan had his 9 month appointment on Friday. He is 22.8 pounds and 29 inches tall and doing great. We also started him back on the regular formula and he doesn’t seem to be having any problems with it like he was in the first couple of months.

Also on Friday we received the Little Playground that I ordered from Target. We ordered two sets and put them in our bedroom so now we have a safe place to put him that he can play in and not have to deal with the dogs, and their hair. Here’s a shot of what it looks like all set up.

It’s great, he loves playing in it which is nice for us cause we can leave him in there and go take care of some things around the house…

Other then that it’s just a few steps at a time. He is just starting to crawl, he still does the stomach drag thing but now on the carpet he’ll lift his stomach off of the ground and actually crawl. He doesn’t do it as much on the hardwood floor yet but I think that’s only a matter of time, it’s harder on his knees and he slides on it more. He is taking a few steps now without holding onto anything but he has to do it from a wall. When he’s in his play area if I’m sitting in the center he’ll use the walls to walk as close to me as he can and then turn around, let go, and take 3 or 4 steps into my arms.

New Movies

February 23rd, 2009

Yea…so it took a week longer then I expected but here are the videos that I promised. Lets just say that Windows Movie Maker sucks for working with widescreen videos. I had to go and find my copy of Pinnacle Studio to get a video without the huge black borders that Movie Maker put on both of these.

You’ll see black borders on the videos below but that’s because of the size of the box, if you view them on YouTube they look just fine. Windows Movie Maker added it’s own black borders as well making the entire video look scrunched up.

Just an update

February 13th, 2009

So I was looking at the site today and realized that we haven’t updated much lately. Donovan is doing great, he hasn’t fully started crawling yet but he has started pulling himself along on the ground, so we’re getting close.

I’ve been trying to make sure that we work on this every night and he’s getting faster and faster all the time. We have a bunch of toys for him that we place slightly out of reach, so that he has to pull himself to them, but we have found that the best motivator so far is my iPhone. He kind of slowly crawls to get his toys but if I put my phone on the ground that kid flies trying to get it…

Along those same lines he’s also getting close to walking on his own. He’s been cruising the walls in his crib and just about any solid surface he can hold on to and is getting more balanced on his feet every day. Just last night, while holding his hands to help him balance, we walked from our bedroom out to the kitchen to see what mommy was doing.

This week we started to introduce 3rd stage foods which helps him to figure out chewing and gives him new textures to try. He seems to be taking pretty well to that and apparently he really likes pasta.

Since it looks like it’s going to be a cold and rainy weekend here in Visalia I’ll try to get some new videos of him walking around and crawling. Hopefully I’ll have something new to post either Saturday or Sunday.
